Master class on organza topiary using the example of making a heart tree. Do-it-yourself organza ball for a Christmas tree How to attach an organza ball to a topiary

A DIY organza topiary is not only a gift or accessory, it is also a tree of happiness. There are many variations of this tree, as well as materials for production. Even if you make it from the same materials, each time the product can look unique. The scope for creativity in creating such trees is unlimited; they can be made to match any color and decor of the room. Organza topiary looks organically in different interiors.

Topiary with organza strings

Funtiki are small parts that need to be assembled into a single composition.

You can do them as follows:

  • cut into small squares, no less than 5 cm and no more than 7 cm;
  • fold the workpiece diagonally, moving the corners;
  • fold the fabric to form an accordion;
  • secure it all with a pin.

The crown of the topiary will consist of these pounds. In order to make the tree lush and beautiful, you will need a lot of them.

You can use any twig as the base, also known as the stem. It doesn't have to be even. But before use, it should be cleaned and processed so that over time it does not lose its appearance and maintains its strength. You can just buy an artificial one in the store. You can make additional details yourself or use ready-made hairpins, brooches, or more.

Manufacturing

The master class on creating organza topiary will begin with making a trunk. It’s better to take a branch, since you won’t have to make the shape yourself, but only correct the existing one or leave it as is.

The branch is tightly wrapped with satin ribbon, the end of which is secured with hot glue. You can wrap it not only with tape, but also with white twine. You can not wrap it at all, but simply varnish it. You can try to combine several snags into one and make a double or triple topiary, which will definitely add originality to the tree.

A good option would be to mix different types of jewelry. For example, satin ribbons and corrugated paper.

To make organza topiary, the master class requires a small foam ball - about 7 or 7.5 cm in diameter. But if it is not there, then you can make the base for the crown yourself. For example, from old newspapers or using a balloon that needs to be covered with pieces of paper. You will get a ball of papier-mâché. You can glue several pieces of foam plastic together, and then grind out a ball of the desired size.

Next, you need to insert the driftwood into the foam ball and secure it all with hot glue. You can use anything as a flowerpot, but the main thing is that the shape is similar to a flower pot. Now you can start decorating the flowerpot: you need to insert a driftwood into it and fill it with foam. There is no need to fill it completely, as the foam tends to increase several times.

To keep the trunk firmly in the pot, you need to let the foam harden. To do this, you can leave the flowerpot overnight, and in the morning, after the foam has increased, you should cut off the excess. You can use gypsum instead of foam, but it will add a lot of weight to the topiary.

Now you can do the pounds described above. Using hot glue, stick them all on the foam ball one by one. It is best to glue from the top and gradually, filling the ball, go down, so in the end there will not be any big difficulties in finishing the work. It is important that there are no empty spaces left that could be visible between the pounds. You can use ribbons of different colors to give the topiary originality and unusualness.

Decoration

You can decorate with the following materials:

  • sisal;
  • tulle;
  • flowers made of polymer clay.

Sisal will be used to hide the foam and decorate the flowerpot. The flowerpot can be decorated with regular fabric or placed on foam with decorative stones or moss.

You can decorate the side with artificial flowers or a keychain, lots of fruits. As an option, there is decoration using medical spatulas, which need to be glued around the jar with hot glue, and then painted.

The flowerpot can also be decorated with colored sand or artificial stones. The top is decorated with beads, artificial flowers or leaves. You can also make small bows from organza, which will also be an excellent decoration for the tree. You can give the topiary a marine character if you use shells when decorating, or a monetary one if you decorate it with coins and counterfeit bills. Small parts can be glued to the fabric, and larger elements can be attached to needles or auxiliary parts and attached to the base of the ball.

DIY crafts

Do-it-yourself organza flowers can be a wonderful decoration. You need to cut out several circles of different sizes. How lush the flower will turn out will depend on the quantity and size. Next, use hot tweezers to scorch the edges and form a petal shape. When all the pieces are ready, they need to be assembled into a flower using threads.

You can make an organza bow or topiary heart in a similar way. You can also glue beads inside, which will give the product an original look. If the main color of the beads was green, then additional colors can depict flowers in a green meadow, and the beads will perfectly complement the picture. The main thing is to be creative and add the right colors to the composition.

Topiary requires proper care. It should only be placed in a dry place, not near batteries or sunlight, so that the glue does not dry out or get wet. You cannot spray water from a spray bottle on the tree, because stains may remain, which will be problematic to get rid of.

You can only carry out dry dust cleaning using a brush or hair dryer. Topiary will be a decoration for a luxury home or small apartment, the main thing is that it is made with love and warmth.

When thinking about what to please our family and friends for the holiday, we are often at a loss, fearing that our choice will turn out to be unoriginal or even worse, unnecessary. However, a gift made with your own hands, which preserves the warmth of your heart and soul, will always be to your taste.

Delicate organza topiary is an ideal gift for any occasion. Topiaries are, among other things, a fashionable and fresh interior solution for any home. They are called trees of happiness because they cause joy and upliftment in any person who received them as a gift.

The word “topiary” originated in the times of Ancient Rome; initially it was the name given to slaves who maintained the beauty and originality pleasing to the eye in gardens. Further, this was the name given to the art of decorative care for trees and shrubs; today, topiary refers to miniature interior trees made by hand with the inclusion of natural materials in the composition. You can use absolutely any materials: twigs, elegant shells, beautiful pebbles, moss and dried flowers.

Topiaries are not artistic copies of living trees, so you are not limited in the flight of your imagination.

So, you can get topiary from flowers, pine cones, coffee beans or even fruits. The most delicate and elegant types of topiary are organza topiaries; their creation will be discussed in detail below.

You will learn how to make topiary from satin ribbons from this article:

Organza topiary master class: detailed process

In this part of the article, you will be presented with a step-by-step explanation of the process of making topiary with your own hands.

To make a tree of happiness you will need to stock up on:

  • Organza (approximately 2.5 meters will be required, remember that the width of the fabric should not be less than 70cm);
  • A foam ball with a diameter of at least 7 cm;
  • Glue gun for working with hot glue;
  • An elegant flowerpot for composition;
  • A stapler (the most common office staple will do);
  • Polyurethane foam;
  • Sharp scissors;
  • Driftwood (remember that it is a decorative load-bearing element, so it should be aesthetically attractive);
  • Wire;
  • Atal or brocade ribbons;
  • Decorative details to suit your taste.

Step by step instructions

It’s better to start working with the trunk of the topiary; if you haven’t found a beautiful and smooth driftwood yourself, buy one already processed at a decor store or hand-made studio. An original solution is to decorate the driftwood with a satin ribbon or paint it in the color you want; gold or red will look especially fresh. If you decide to decorate the driftwood with a satin ribbon, do not forget to secure its end with hot glue.

An interesting option for decorating driftwood would be white twine or lace.

When the driftwood is ready, insert it into the blank ball, be careful: it should stand evenly and firmly, you can “plant” it with hot glue. Afterwards, you can start decorating the flowerpot, for example, you can wrap it with harsh thread, put it on hot glue, or decorate it with lace or fabric. Next, fill the flowerpot with polyurethane foam, but not to the brim; remember: polyurethane foam can increase in volume. Insert a driftwood into a flowerpot with foam and leave the future tree overnight; the next day, remove excess dried foam. Then start working with organza, cutting the number of squares you need, make pounds (how to make pounds is written below), fold the blanks in a place convenient for you, for example, on a tray. Next, place each pound on hot glue in turn, thus securing them to the ball. As a result, you should have an organza crown.

How to make organza buns for topiary

Let's figure out how to make organza pound cakes. Fountains are small decorative parts that allow you to assemble a topiary, like a puzzle. You need to cut small squares of organza, no more than 7 cm in length, give preference to floral organza, it will not cause you trouble in the creative process, ordinary organza tends to crumble along the edges.

The resulting squares need to be folded diagonally, slightly shifting the corners, and then bend them so that you get an accordion, secure the pound with a stapler or pin. Sometimes they are fastened with thread, but this will significantly increase the working time.

Topiary made of flowers and organza: main differences

If you want to please yourself or your loved ones with fresh and bright topiary, then you can make topiary from fresh flowers. To do this, you need to stock up on a floral sponge, flowers of your choice, decorative elements, a base for the trunk, a flowerpot and cement.

  2. After wetting the sponge, decorate it with moss.
  3. Next, arrange the fresh flowers to your liking by simply sticking them into the sponge and securing them with ribbons to the wooden base.

Remember: the more flowers, the more lush and colorful your composition.

Creating organza topiary for a wedding “Lilac Happiness”

To make it you need to stock up on:

  • Foam base ball;
  • Pink floral organza (about 5 m);
  • Trunk (35-40 cm);
  • Flowerpot (preferably ceramic and elegantly decorated);
  • Wedding figurine;
  • Satin flowers;
  • Satin ribbons;
  • Alabaster;
  • Acrylic pink or lilac paint;
  • Glue gun;
  • Stationery stapler;
  • Scissors.

Let's start by painting the trunk lilac or pink, while it dries, prepare the pounds, then secure the trunk to the base (you can put it on hot glue). Having diluted the required amount of alabaster in the pot, we place the trunk with the base there. Leave it overnight to harden. Next, carefully and consistently fix the pounds on the base, forming a crown. In addition to the pounds, it is necessary to harmoniously glue flowers onto the base; there should not be many of them, their purpose is to enrich the composition without weighing it down. Finally, decorate the flowerpot with sesal and thread beads on a fishing line along the trunk. You can install a wedding figurine under the crown.

Topiary “heart” made of organza: doing it right

Making a heart-shaped topiary using a technology similar to making regular organza topiary:

  1. First of all, prepare a flowerpot, wrap it with fabric, for example, red, lace or ribbons, fill it with cement, polyurethane foam or alabaster (your choice, depending on what is more convenient and familiar to work with).
  2. We fix the trunk in the solution with a heart-shaped base-ball attached to it. You can either cut it out of foam plastic yourself or buy a ready-made blank.
  3. After the solution hardens and the trunk with the ball is fixed, you can begin to form the crown. The funnels are fixed with hot glue using standard technology. It is better if you start filling the tree from top to bottom or in a spiral.
  4. When the crown is ready, do not forget about the decor; decorate the flowerpot with moss or sesal, and the crown itself can be decorated with beads or feathers.

Organza topiary in the interior (photo)

Topiary – a tree of happiness, a beautiful accessory or a symbolic gift? It depends on you, the main thing is that there are a lot of variations in the purpose of such a tree. You can make beautiful topiaries with your own hands from pound sticks. But what it is is worth explaining in more detail.

Funtiki are small parts made of organza that can be assembled into a single composition. In the photo you can see what they are. The name is funny, and they are not difficult to make.

Funtiki are made like this:

  • Cut into small squares. It is undesirable for the side to be more than 7 cm. Ordinary organza may fray at the edges, but floral organza will not cause such trouble. Therefore, almost every master class advises taking it.
  • Fold the workpiece diagonally with your own hands, slightly moving the corners.
  • And then the fabric needs to be folded so that it gradually becomes an accordion. To do this, mentally divide the square into four parts.
  • Such a pound is fixed with a regular pin.
  • You can fasten two blanks with a stapler or just thread.

These are the trimmings that can be used to decorate a topiary. You will have to make a lot of them if you want a lush tree. A video or photo master class, it happens, explains how quickly you can make many of these pound cake blanks at once.

Organza topiary master class

In this case, the master class begins with making the barrel. Why is it better to take driftwood? Because you won’t need to make the shape of the trunk yourself, you will have a ready-made natural component that needs a little decoration.

How to decorate driftwood with your own hands - mini MK:

  • The driftwood is wrapped with a satin ribbon, its end is fixed with hot glue;
  • You can also wrap the snag using white twine;
  • Openwork braid can also become a decoration for the trunk of a topiary with organza strands.

Look at examples of work in photos and videos, which trunk decor seems more convincing to you, then repeat it.

  • You need to insert a piece of driftwood into the foam ball, tightly and evenly, fix it with hot glue;
  • Now start decorating the flowerpot, insert a driftwood into it and fill it with foam, just not to the edges of the lawn (the foam usually increases in size);
  • The flowerpot can stand like this overnight, and in the morning you will see that the foam has grown, and evenly cut off the excess;
  • Then the master class gradually moves on to working with fabric; the organza needs to be cut into small squares;
  • From each square you need to get a pound that is already familiar to you, put the blanks in one place;
  • Each pound is glued to the foam ball with hot glue in turn.

You will get a crown of small flowers. Organza topiary is already at the finish line of its production - but there is still an important stage left at which you will have to decorate the tree with your own hands.

Again, how to do this, look at the example photos, the video master class will also help. But there are also tips specifically for this topiary with organza strands.

How to make organza topiary: tree decor

Organza topiary can be decorated with the same delicate elements, airy in structure. This is, for example, sisal, tulle. Or you can balance the craft with heavier decor: for example, it could be flowers made of polymer clay, or a scattering of flowers from cold porcelain.

Ideas for decorating a topiary with organza strings:

  • Make a string of pearls on a tree trunk or flowerpot with your own hands. To do this, take mother-of-pearl beads and make a snake out of them, glued with hot glue.
  • The top layer of polyurethane foam can be covered with sisal. Almost every MK offers just such a solution, although you can, of course, make a scattering of colored salt around the trunk in a flowerpot, and put a heart out of beads there, etc.
  • The topiary pot itself with organza strings can be tied with a satin ribbon in the color of the crown. You can also tie a flowerpot with a lace ribbon.
  • Also, an organza topiary can become a photo-confession tree. Make a sun napkin with your own hands from ten photos, on which a topiary pot with organza straws will become.
  • With your own hands you can glue rhinestones onto the crown, which will shimmer beautifully in the sun.

The standard master class suggests using not polyurethane foam, but plaster or alabaster. It’s a matter of choice, what is more convenient for you to work with, then take it. Organza topiary can also be used as a photo object, for example, if you are doing a winter photo shoot. A snow-white topiary made with your own hands will go very well with the theme.

Surprising with a gift is not easy these days, but it is still possible. Try making a topiary for your loved one with your own hands. The materials for its creation can be different; light and elegant organza is often chosen. The “Tree of Happiness” from it looks very elegant.

What materials will be needed

Making any topiary begins with the selection of materials and tools. You will need:

  • organza 4 m long and 0.7 m wide;
  • fabric flowers;
  • toothpicks;
  • hot glue gun;
  • base ball;
  • stapler;
  • stick or wire for the trunk;
  • decor;
  • pot;
  • sisal;
  • gypsum;
  • Styrofoam.

Options for making organza topiary

Organza topiaries can have different shapes and look completely different. However, they all include the following basic elements:

  • stand;
  • base for the crown;
  • trunk.

You will get a beautiful topiary if you decorate it correctly. Organza goes well with satin ribbons and beads, which can be attached with glue. You can decorate with artificial flowers, varnish, and paints. A ball is most often used as a base. It can be made of any material, but it must be durable. Typically, balls made of papier-mâché, plastic, foam, and paper are used. For a romantic date, such as Valentine's Day, you can make a heart topiary. The base for it is cut out of foam plastic.

The following can be used as a stand:

  • baskets;
  • pots;
  • vases;
  • glasses;
  • cups.

The main thing is that the diameter of the crown is approximately the same as the diameter of the stand, otherwise the structure will look heavy.

There are different options for making a trunk for a “tree of happiness.” The most popular materials for this are branches, wire, and sushi sticks. The wire is twisted several times and then decorated with cords or ribbons. The branches are varnished after removing the bark.

Organza flowers for decorating topiary can be made in several ways.

  • Templates in the shape of flowers are made from cardboard. Organza blanks are cut out from them. All that remains is to burn the edges of the resulting blanks.
  • A long ribbon is taken and one edge is burned over a candle flame. Next, you should roll the ribbon in the shape of a flower, and secure its lower part with thread.
  • Flowers are made using pounders. To do this, organza is cut into squares, folded diagonally, shifting the corners, and then folded into an accordion or fan. The workpiece is fastened using a stapler or thread.

Topiary made of organza and artificial roses looks romantic. Flowers made from foamiran are suitable. In this case, the pot is painted to match the color of roses, organza acts as an additional decorative element, but otherwise the technology for making the “tree of happiness” is standard. You can also make leaves from organza, and additionally decorate the ball with gold ribbons and bows, attaching them with glue. The space between the walls of the pot and the trunk is decorated with beautiful stones, which are also fixed with glue. The leaves can be sprinkled with glitter and fixed with varnish.

The most difficult thing to do is a topiary decorated with organza and silk flowers, made using the guilloché technique - burning onto fabric. But the result will definitely exceed all expectations. To make this topiary you will need a burner with temperature control. In addition, you will need special glass, without which the work will not be possible. To avoid cutting yourself, it is recommended to seal the edges of the glass with tape. Burning is carried out using a pre-prepared stencil.

Instructions for making organza topiary

The master class on creating organza topiary is simple.

  1. First, take a base in the shape of a ball or other shape made of plastic, paper or foam.
  2. Pounds are made - squares with a side of 7 cm are cut. They are folded diagonally, shifting the corners.
  3. Next, an accordion is made from the blanks. You can secure the resulting shape using a stapler.
  4. You can decorate the pot as your imagination dictates. A good option is decoupage using beautiful napkins.
  5. The topiary trunk, which can be a stick decorated with yarn, is fixed to plaster in a pot.
  6. The inside of the pot is decorated with artificial grass.
  7. The crown is decorated. To ensure that the pounds stick well to the base ball, it is sheathed with fabric. Organza flowers can be planted with glue or sewn on. The leaves are attached in the same way.

If you don’t have the time or desire to make organza flowers yourself, you can purchase ready-made ones at a flower shop. You can attach the composition to the pot not only with plaster, but also with polyurethane foam. An original design option for the barrel would be to decorate it with colored laces.

Organza flowers look good combined with crepe paper, coffee beans and satin ribbons. Topiary can even be made from organza and pasta - it all depends on your imagination!

To create a topiary in a marine style, you can use the appropriate paraphernalia glued between the flowers - starfish, shells, anchors.

The tree of happiness looks interesting and original, combining organza and nuts - both whole and parts. You can take pistachios, walnuts, hazelnuts. In this case, organza can act as a frame, and the fruits themselves are painted in beautiful colors.

A great option is the money tree. In this case, in addition to organza, coins and fake banknotes are used as decorative materials.

How to make organza topiary (video)

Any organza topiary is worthy of attention. It will look good in the office, on a bookshelf, and on the dining table. Caring for the product is simple - just blow off the dust with a cold stream of air using a hairdryer. It is also important not to place the topiary in direct sunlight to prevent the colors from fading, and to avoid getting it wet. If these simple conditions are met, the “tree of happiness” created by the master with love will delight the eye for many years.

Reading time: 4 minutes

It is difficult to find an interior without a small corner of prosperity and happiness. And its symbol is the “money tree” or topiary. For production, any available material is used, and the themes of artificial trees are very diverse. If you want to give an exquisite gift for a birthday, wedding, anniversary, airy organza topiary will solve the problem.

All roads lead to Rome

What do the topiary bushes in the park and the charming tree in a pot on the chest of drawers have in common? It turns out there is a common history that goes back to Ancient Rome. It was there that “topiary” slaves created figured hedges. The Italian Renaissance was also reflected in landscape fashion: gardens were decorated with original bushes in the shape of animals and political figures.

Since the 17th century, France has become a real trendsetter for beautiful parks, the basis of which is the art of curly pruning of green spaces. And over the following centuries, it became a sign of good taste to use the capabilities of topiary in shaping the landscape.

In the world of storey buildings, having your own garden or park is problematic. But anyone can afford to create a piece of man-made nature. This is how unusual trees migrated into the home interior.

We disassemble for spare parts

Any topiary consists of four main parts:

  • the basis. The shape of the base reflects the theme of the product. Traditionally it is a ball, but it can be a square, a cone or an animal figure, the outline of a letter, or a heart. The choice of material for the base depends on the technique: if the decorative elements will be stuck in, a soft one will do; for stickers it is better to use a hard surface;
  • crown. The main element for fantasy. To create it, any fabric, beads, sequins, beads, shells are suitable. The crown is even decorated with nuts, coffee beans, colored pasta and cereals, and candies;

  • trunk. A crown-shaped base is attached to this part. The main requirement is that it must be strong and easy to decorate;
  • stand. Traditionally, a regular flower pot is used for the stand. However, there is no limit to imagination. A small, miniature tree can easily be fixed in a small shell or coffee cup. For a larger topiary, any container decorated in accordance with the general idea is suitable.

Before starting work, you need to think through each element. They must be combined with each other functionally and thematically, forming a complete image.

Airy organza

  • beloved friend;
  • for women's interior.

Inserts of bright elements will make the tree magical, complement the composition, and create a plot. The fabric is responsible for the mood and airiness of the topiary.

Funtik technique

Elements for decorating with organza are formed in several ways:

  • making flowers using ready-made templates;
  • ribbon flowers, leaves;
  • formation of pounds.

The simplest technique for working with pound organza. Main stages of working with fabric:

  • the material is cut into squares with a side of 7 (5) cm. To avoid processing the edges, use hot scissors or a special organza for floristry;
  • the square is bent diagonally so that the corners do not coincide, but are offset;
  • the workpiece is folded like an accordion or fan;
  • The corner is fixed with a sewing pin;
  • a second one is made and connected to the first using a stapler, thread,

In this way, the required number of pounds is prepared for trimming the base of the organza topiary.

Idea for Valentine's Day

The symbol of Valentine's Day, the heart, will be a great idea for a topiary crown. Such a tree of happiness will be an original gift. To make it you will need the following materials:

Procedure:
  • the barrel and the workpiece are glued together;
  • Pounds are made from organza. Squares are cut into 5x5 cm format;
  • using a gun, glue the pounds to the heart-shaped workpiece so as to completely cover the entire surface;
  • the barrel is attached to the stand;
  • the lower part of the tree is decorated with pounds.

Beads, satin ribbon bows, and butterflies will add completeness to the topiary. The middle of the heart can be filled with roses, peonies, lilies, made of organza. An original addition will be a frame with a joint photo

A little creativity

With a little imagination, you can create DIY organza topiary, organically complementing any interior:

  • You will get a traditional money tree if you additionally include bags of counterfeit banknotes. Decorative coins can be used as the center of organza flowers;

  • the coffee tree of happiness will be more original if the middle of the flower is made from coffee beans, and the crown is trimmed with organza;
