"Zveri" is a Russian pop-rock band created by Roman Bilyk. Winner of the Muz-TV, MTV Russia and Debut awards.

The group “Beasts” was created in 2001 by Roman Bilyk, who came to Moscow from Taganrog, known under the pseudonym Roma Beast. The producer was composer Alexander Voitinsky, who previously collaborated with the producer of the Tatu group Ivan Shapovalov. They recruited the band's musicians through advertisements on the Internet.
The group soon released the video “For You”. The video was followed by the debut album “Hunger”. Songs from this album “Rain-Pistols”, “Ring”, “For You”, “Simply Such Strong Love” were successful in the Chart Dozen hit parade. In the same year, the group performed for the first time at the Nashestvie festival.
In February 2004, the group released its second album, “Districts-Quarters,” which became its breakthrough to fame. A number of video clips are broadcast by Muz-TV and MTV Russia: “Everything That Concerns”, “Strong Drinks”, “Southern Night”. The album is followed by a concert tour throughout Russia and the CIS, lasting almost two years.
In 2005, a disc of remixes and “Beasts - Karaoke” were released. Recording of the third album begins. In the fall, the first song from the future disc appears in rotation - “Roma, Sorry.” The album itself, entitled “When we are together, no one is cooler,” was released in March 2006. There was an attempt to represent Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 with the song “Snowfall”.
"Beasts" received a number of awards. In 2004-2009, the group was named “Best Rock Band” according to the Muz-TV channel. In 2005, the group received a similar award from MTV Russia. In 2004, “Beasts” received the MTV Europe Music Awards as “Best Russian Performer”.
In 2006, Roma Zver released his autobiography entitled “Rain Pistols,” which describes his life in Taganrog, before moving to Moscow and creating the group. Along with this, there has been a sharp decline in appearances on television.
In 2007, a video was released for the song “Brunettes and Blondes” from the not yet released album. The composition of the group is changing.
At the beginning of 2008, a video was released for the song “To You” from the not yet released album. The song "Apartment" is included in the soundtrack of Vladivostok-FM, one of the radio stations available in the game Grand Theft Auto IV.
As many as two songs, “Districts-Quarters” and “Rains Pistols,” immortalized themselves in the film. They were included in the soundtrack to the film “Everyone Dies, But I’ll Stay.” Interestingly, “Districts-Blocks” is played three times: in the credits, in the final scene, the instrumental version is played, and at the disco. Also on the official trailer for the film, “Districts-blocks” are also played. In July, a video is released for the song “I’m with you” from the not yet released album. In the same year, “Zveri” became the “best rock band” according to Muz-TV for the fifth time in a row.
On October 31, the group finally released their fourth album, entitled “Further”, presenting it at the Moscow club “B1 Maximum”. The album was supposed to be released in the spring, but the finished material was ruined by a flood in the studio. The group is moving to a new studio: “ZveriSoundStudio”.
In November 2008, the group closed the RMA award of the MTV Russia channel with a scandal. After playing a 10-minute set consisting of all the old hits, Roman Bilyk ends the performance with a show of his middle fingers and leaves, and guitarist Maxim Leonov breaks his guitar with the inscription “No more rock on RMA-Russia” in the middle of the stage. On the air of the television program “Sharks of the Feather” on TVJam, Roman explained his action. According to him, conditions were created for him so that in the future he would not have the desire to perform live. On May 29 and 30, 2009, 2 acoustic concerts were held in Moscow as part of the new project “Close Animals” at the Moscow Art Theater. Gorky.
On June 5, 2009, the group “Zveri” was recognized for the 6th time in a row as the best rock group according to Muz-TV.
At the beginning of autumn 2009, sound engineer Alexey Martynov, who had worked in the group from the very beginning, left the group. He is replaced by Dmitry Dobry, who previously worked with the group “Cockroaches!” and singer Linda.
At the end of September 2009, the collection of concert videos (“Districts-Quarters”, “Dance”) of the group “Zveri” was replenished with another creation for the song “Speak”. The material for the clip was

Biography (history) of the Zveri group

The group "Zveri" is the most popular rock group in Russia. For more than ten years now, the team has been carrying the banner of the winner. The soloist and permanent leader of the group is Roman Bilyk. It was thanks to Roman that this magnificent team was formed. One summer, Roman realized that life in his hometown of Taganrog was hopeless and decided to go to Moscow. Since the guy had practically no money, he decided to rely on the help of his friends, but their phones were treacherously silent. Then Roma, not despondent, decides to go to work in his specialty. The artist had only two years of training behind him at construction vocational school No. 23 in Taganrog and the Taganrog Construction College.

A few months later, in the fall of the same year, Roma met Alexander Voitinsky, the future producer and director of all the videos of the Zveri group. They came to the conclusion that Roma would be involved in creativity, and Alexander would be in charge of its promotion and finances. The future “Beast” was lucky that at the very beginning of his creative career he met a person who so sensitively felt the soul of the creator and well understood what line commercial interests should not go beyond. Two years after arriving in Moscow, Roma began to conquer it and, together with the director, shot his first video for the song “For You.”

With the filming of this video, the fulfillment of the cherished desires of two creators began: Roma had a dream to create a group and sing his songs that girls would like, and Voitinsky had a dream to start directing and shoot videos. Despite minor rotations, the group was noted not only by hundreds of young girls, but also by the head of the record label, Alexey Kozin. After listening to the demo recordings of the first album, Alexey decided to work with the group. Many of his colleagues tried to dissuade him, but he decided not to follow everyone’s lead. Alexey decided to give this young and talented group a chance, and as he can now see, it was not in vain. Just two years later, “Beasts” were able to pack a full house at Luzhniki, and six months later, the country’s largest concert venue, the Olimpiysky Sports Complex.

The story of the group’s dizzying success began with the song “For You.” This composition appears in the rotation of the largest radio stations in Russia, and six months later the video for the composition “Simply Such Strong Love” occupies top places in the charts of the main music channels. It is worth noting that Roma Bilyk is not only a talented musician and singer, but also a good actor. There is no hired actor in any of the videos; the Beast plays all the roles himself. Soon the image of the group's vocalist appears on the covers of popular youth magazines, and a little later, glossy publications. In general, this year has been very fruitful for the team. They release their first album, “Hunger,” which immediately sells out in impressive numbers. The guys begin to tour actively.

After a short period of time, “Beasts” release their second album “Districts-Quarters”, give a grandiose concert at Luzhniki and go on an all-Russian tour. The guys travel all over Russia from Kaliningrad to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. By this time, the group already had a large number of hits. And the second album became one of the best-selling in the entire history of the group; it included the most hit compositions from the group’s repertoire. Many believe that it was during this period of time that the peak of the team’s fame occurred.

After a short break, the group released their third studio album, “When we are together, no one is cooler.” By this time, “Beasts” had already toured Russia many times. The group decides to expand the geography of its performances - Germany, France, USA, Canada. And now, after a couple of months, these countries have been conquered by a young and talented group. New countries and continents are coming. Vocalist Roma, in addition to his musical activities, managed to publish his own book, which he called “Rain Pistols,” and recently developed his own clothing line. Singer, musician, poet, composer, actor, and now also writer and designer. It is unknown what new talent Roma will find in himself.

The band is currently working on recording a new album. Roman said that the new record will have a different sound from all previous works. The group could always surprise its listeners with something new, and this time it will certainly be no worse. The guys have their own style, inimitable and unique. “Beasts” has thousands of fans who always wait and love them. But for an artist this is the most important thing: to be loved and always waited for, no matter what. We can say with confidence that this rock band will be welcome always and everywhere.

In 2015, Zveri received the “Best Rock Band” award from the Muz-TV channel.

In March 2016, a new album was released - “No Fear”. According to Roma the Beast, the new record will delight music lovers with its extraordinary cheerfulness and excellent quality. Let us remind you that work on the long-play “No Fear” was started by Bilyk’s team immediately after the release of the previous album “One on One”. The band leader worked on new musical material in between concerts.

Group "Beasts"- one of the few modern musical groups that dynamically moves forward, improves and tries itself in various roles. It would be wrong to talk about “Beasts” as a rock band, because their rock, which we are used to perceiving in its pure form, is always “seasoned” with peculiar “spices”. Moreover, on each album the music of the Zveri group sounds completely different. This is their, so to speak, “creative trick.”

The frontman of the band, Roman Bilyk, was born in Taganrog in 1977. Since childhood I have been interested in music. When he was given the first guitar, Roman simply did not let it out of his hands. Mom was not against her son’s hobby, but still insisted on getting an education, and Bilyk graduated from a construction vocational school with a specialty in “general-profile tiler-finisher.” Why construction? It’s just that Roman, in addition to practicing the guitar, really liked to create, tinker, and transform something. There were even plans to continue my studies in my field and graduate from university. However, everything turned out completely differently...

While studying at a vocational school, Roman organized the group “Asymmetry”. If you now compare her repertoire with the songs of the group “Zveri”, you will never recognize the leader of the group from the old recordings. “Asymmetry” was distinguished by originality, nationality, and ethnic motives. The songs largely reflected the hippie movement and everything connected with it. Texts, instruments, even the appearance of Roman Bilyk himself with long hair and an embroidered wide shirt at that time did not give the slightest hint of what his work would become in ten years. “I ran through the fields, prayed to the gods...” - this line “from the early days” most accurately characterizes the work of Roman Vitalievich Bilyk in the late 90s.

Like many other performers, Roman decided to go to Moscow in search of further self-improvement. In my pocket there were 700 rubles and a diploma from a construction school. Here he had the opportunity to work as a master finisher, but not for long. In 2000, Moscow acquaintances introduced Roman to producer and director Alexander Voitinsky. Roma showed him his song “For You”. The simplicity and sincerity “hooked” me, it was decided to shoot a video. He was taken to the department at MTV where applications from ordinary “those hungry for fame” were considered. We only hoped for luck. To their surprise, the video “For You” was released.

It was decided to continue working. The date of creation of the group “Beasts” can be officially considered September 2001. The musicians were recruited from an advertisement on the Internet. In 2002, the album “Hunger” was recorded with the now hits “Rain-Pistols”, “Traps”, “Simply Such Strong Love”. Each of the songs of the group “Zveri” from the first album charged with a special drive, sincerity, which is characteristic only of yard songs. “Ring”, “Little C” are exactly reminiscent of this “yard” style with simple melody and accessible, “intelligible” lyrics. In 2003, this album was re-released and supplemented with a new video, “Love Just So Strong.”

After the first performance of the group “Zveri” at the “Invasion” festival, there was no particular triumph. But with the release of the album “Districts-Quarters” in 2004, the group gained new fans. The rotation of the rather successful album on radio stations was supported by a number of new videos: “Everything that concerns you”, “Strong drinks”, “Southern night” and, of course, “Districts-quarters” - a video recorded in Luzhniki during a solo concert group "Beasts". But more on that separately.

In the same year, Voitinsky proposed organizing a concert in Luzhniki. It was quite brave, but a little scary. There are only two albums behind them, the group is quite young... There was a danger that “Beasts” would not be able to gather the audience. The result is a full house and a resounding success. They did it! This was followed by a tour of the country with songs from the albums “Hunger” and “Districts-Quarters”. After the triumphant “capture” of Luzhniki, the “Beasts” “swinged” at a more serious peak - “Olympic”. This concert was released on DVD and was named the best concert of 2004. Performances of the group "Beasts" are always performed live. Roman Bilyk is simply not used to working differently.

In 2006, two significant events took place in the biography of the group “Zveri”: the third studio album “When we are together, no one is cooler” was released and Roman Bilyk’s autobiographical book “Rains-Pistols”, which tells about his life in Taganrog, so to speak “pre-Moscow” period. Together with Alexander Voitinsky, spectacular videos were shot for songs from the third album: “Roma, I’m sorry!” and “See you soon,” and the video “Dance” was edited after the concert of the group “Zveri” in St. Petersburg.

The group toured extensively and was thinking about recording a new album. Three new videos were even filmed: “Brunettes and Blondes”, “For You” and “I’m with You”. Fans were looking forward to the new album and anticipated the next changes in the music of the Zveri group. The long-awaited fourth album was released in the fall of 2008. The name “Next” spoke for itself. In the music and lyrics one could feel a completely different Roma Beast, matured and more serious. But the album turned out to be quite “motley”: there is room for philosophizing, nostalgia, and even imagining oneself as a rebel. This is a kind of reflection album, summing up some achievements in creativity and in life. After the album “Next” it became clear: the old “Beasts” from the time of “Hunger” will no longer exist.

In 2009, Roman Bilyk and the group “Zveri” are preparing a large-scale project called “Acoustics”. The impetus for this was the “home” experiments of guitarist Maxim Leonov, who came up with various arrangements for old songs just for fun. It was decided to organize a live concert at the Moscow Art Theater, in which the well-known songs of the group “Zveri” sounded completely differently. Various musical instruments were used: winds, strings, accordion, percussion, as well as backing vocals. Roman performed his hits, one new song and a cover of the Beijing Row-Row group “Spring”. Fans heard “Acoustics” at two concerts in Moscow at the Moscow Art Theater. Gorky. For other cities, Bilyk hid another “ace in the hole” - the “Close Animals” program, which became a kind of modest version of “Acoustics”.

“Acoustics” captivated musicians for a long time with performances throughout our country and abroad. Therefore, the new fifth studio album entitled “Muses” was released only in 2011 on March 8th. Ironically, there are exactly nine new songs on the disc - just the number of muses from different fields of art. The new album somewhat surprised fans, since “electronic notes” appeared in the music of the “Zveri” group. In general, the style of “Beasts” was recognizable, but something new also appeared. The team has acquired a new sound, a new style and, it seems, a new worldview. Even the new video for the song “Nobody” was shot by Roman himself, without the support of Voitinsky.

From “yard rock” to “hard electronics” - the group “Zveri” has traveled this long path in just ten years. This year the team is celebrating its anniversary, which it plans to celebrate on a new tour, followed by the main spectacle at the Olimpiysky. In the meantime, in June 2011, the group “Zveri” was nominated in the category “Best Rock Group” according to MUZ-TV. Whether they will take the seventh award in the next MUZ-TV Award ceremony, time will tell.

Zveri is one of the most famous pop-rock groups in Russia of the 2000s. A recognizable voice, chords that anyone can pick up on a guitar, catchy lyrics - a recipe for all times. But is it really that simple?

Before making the whole country shout “Districts-Quarters” and believe that “everything is just beginning,” the future leader of the team, Roman Bilyk, studied at the College of Construction and Economics in Donetsk. In 2001, Roman came to Moscow to work, where he met composer Alexander Voitinsky, who had previously worked with the Tatu duet. Thoughts about his band led to the idea of finding musicians using advertisements on the Internet: Roma and his colleagues had no idea how show business worked.

Roman takes the nickname “The Beast” and assembles a group to match his new role. Soon they released their debut video “For You”, and in 2003 the album “Hunger” was released. The future hits “Rain-Pistols” and “Simply Such Strong Love” fall into Mikhail Kozyrev’s fashion-dictating alternative chart “Chart’s Dozen” on “Our Radio”. Frivolous and fiery lines about the worries of the young at heart and the vicissitudes of relationships with Roman’s expressive vocals - such is the style of the new Russian pop-rock stars.

The group’s second album, “Districts-Quarters,” brought great success to the group. “Beasts” are becoming a desirable object of attention for youth media, and their videos do not leave the airwaves of music channels. Since 2004, “Beasts” have begun to reap a harvest of status awards, such as “Best Rock Group” from MUZ-TV and “Best Performer of Russia” from MTV EMA.

In 2006, Roma Zver published the book “Rains-Pistols”, where he talks about his youth in his native Taganrog and the further development of his musical career. In the mid-2000s, “Beasts” appeared less and less on television and radio: the musicians were working on the album “Next” and filming new videos.

In 2008, until then, the “tame” “Beasts” became the instigators of a scandal at the MTV RMA awards. After playing 10 minutes of classics, Roma Zver, after lines about how he “leaves gracefully,” leaves the stage, showing a three-finger gesture, and guitarist Maxim Leonov spectacularly breaks his guitar with the caption in English “no more rock music on RMA.”

Fans of Russian cinema will remember “Beasts” as the soundtrack for Valeria Gai Germanika’s film “Everyone Will Die, But I’ll Stay.” “Districts-Quarters” successfully complements the gloomy story of youth and ultimately acquires the status of the youth anthem of the decade. The following years pass in work on the sixth album “Muse”. “Beasts” collaborates with such performers as Linda, Tatyana Bulanova and the group “Cockroaches!” The seventh record is being written in London under the direction of Beatles and Rolling Stones sound producer Jerry Boys. In 2016, Roma the Beast himself began directing videos.
